| Occupying a prime location on the corner of Jefferson street and Oak Avenue in the north side of the Club District, The Black Rose opened a little over two years ago and has been growing in popularity ever since. In sharp contrast to the flashier, more modernized clubs in the District, The 'Rose, as it's known affectionately to it's patrons, goes for a more mysterious, intimate ambiance with a decidedly Gothic feel that's more Victorian than punk. The club itself has a central dance floor with a raised wooden stage at the back of the main room where visiting acts can perform...usually with a focus on Gothic and Celtic-themed groups. The owner, Megara Bryson, occasionally sings herself. A dining area consists of tables and more private booths as the club does offer a full kitchen for those wanting to order a meal with their nightly dose of alcohol. Another chamber with a second bar is just off the main entrance; for those who want to socialize and drink away from the noise and crowds of the dance floor. A flight of stairs leads to the VIP room for those patrons who want still more privacy to discuss business and pleasure. | |
